Jonny woke us all up early this morning just before 7am but at least we'd had a very deep sleep! The sun was shining so we sat outside to have breakfast and enjoyed a very slow start to the day. Everyone else moved on today so we sat and relished the peace and quiet and then headed into Bowen to explore. We checked out the marina and the views from Flagstaff Hill and then had a walk along Queens Beach. All the kids were keen for a swim so we drove around the corner to Horseshoe Bay and decided to spend the day on the beach. Horseshoe Bay is stunning. The sand isn't quite as white as on the beaches in WA but the water was a beautiful blue colour and very clear. There were large rocks at either end of the bay and the kids spent the entire day climbing on the rocks and swimming. There was a café behind the beach that we bought lunch from and afternoon tea and we didn't pack up until about 4 pm. On the way home we called in to the shops for dinner and had a drive through the town centre, which didn't take long. By the time we got back to the farm we were no longer the only campers as another four caravans had arrived. We skipped the campfire and damper so that we could feed the kids before it got dark and then had them showered and ready for bed by 630 pm. Unfortunately they've learnt to tell the time so we couldn't actually put them to bed even though we were very tempted - a day on the beach and Nick and I were shattered!!
