We were all awake by 630 am so had a quick breakfast, packed up and were on the road by 730 am. The drive through the Tablelands was the prettiest part of the journey and we stopped off in Cardwell again for morning tea at the bakery. We managed to get through Townsville without too much delay as the roadworks seemed to have finished and we stopped in Ayr at a McDonalds for a late lunch. We reached Bowen around 3pm and stopped at Glen Erin Farm Stay a few kms south of the town. It's a fantastic cattle and mango farm that offers cheap powered sites to travelers. They kids were delighted when they met the two farm dogs and the pet kangaroo. Another caravan pulled up at the same time as us and two more rolled in just before dark. Lyn, the host, invited us to a happy hour around the campfire and cooked some damper in the coals that she covered in maple syrup and fed to us all. The kids roasted marshmallows and by the time we'd finished, dinner was a waste of time!! We are very close to a train line here and a couple went passed during the evening but by the time we went to bed it was absolutely silent outside and pitch black making the stars look amazing!
