Saturday was a nice day and Maegan, Hannah, Molly and I definitely took advantage of that! We started off with some coffee in the morning (which I am kiiiind of beginning to like since I gave up hot chocolate for lent) and relaxed in La Plaza Bib Rambla. Then, with our map and cameras in hand, we set off for our adventure!
We stopped and took a picture at Puerta Elvira, the archway to the Albaicin area, and then walked down Avenida de Constituiton. It is a walkway that splits the street down the middle with lots of monuments and pretty flowers along the way. We wandered through two different parks (Fuente Nueve and Triunfo) and then finally meandered our way all the way to Plaza de Torros on the outer edge of the city. We bought our tickets and went inside to find we were the only ones there! This of cours led to us reenacting bull fights, pretending we were in a stadium full of people, and lots of goofy pictures and yoga poses. :) Afterward, we had a tinto de verano and some tapas outside of the bull ring.
The next place our journey led us to was the Monastario de la Cartuja. It was a beautiful Monestarty that had an absolute breath taking cathedral (which I later found out is where Maribel got married..ahh!). I decided I am definitely taking Brandt and the girls there when they come to visit in June. :)
FInally, we began the trek back to central Granada, while stopping along the way for a bocadilla break and siesta in one of the parks. When we decided we had enough sunshine, we packed up our things and headed for home (we only got distracted watching a Spanish rugby game for about 20 minutes). :)
The day was a great one, and I didn't even get burnt! To top it off we went to a tapas bar that served sushi later that night. What a hit!! I definitely now love Granada even more. :)
