This past weekend was the weekend of Prague, Czech Republic! It was a gorgeous city to go to and I'm glad I made the complicated voyage to get there..appartently not a lot of Spainards like to go there because there were no direct flights.
After arriving Thursday night, we went out with Mike's friend who's apartment we were staying at. It was a fun time!
Friday we got up and went and ate at a cool restaurant. They served us our food in such a fancy way that we felt very important. :) After lunch we went to the John Lennon wall and enjoyed the music of a lovely guitarrest there as we took all of our pictures. Next we walked to Old Town Plaza where Hannah and I had our first Tridelnk. It is a type of bread that starts out as a strip of dough then they wrap it around a rotating pole over a burner. The bread becomes crispy on the outside and soft on the inside like a marshmellow, and then they roll it in sugar. Delicious! We also saw the astronomical time clock that keeps track of the days and time of day automatically, that was pretty cool.
After this, Hannah and I walked around and saw the Spanish Synagogue, the Jewish Quarter, stopped in a traditional Czech cookie shop and of course bought some goodies, hung out in a park by the river, and went back to Charles bridge to listen to the band that was playing as people danced to it. That was one of my favorite parts! Very tradtional experience. :)
At night we went to a czech restaurant and then out to a 80s 90s club where we were reminded of all of the cool songs that we used to listen to back in the day. We had a blast dancing and singing. :)
Saturday we went to Prague Castle. It isn't actually a castle but it is a district where the royalty lives and has a huge cathedral in the center. There was also a Basilica, the royal palace, royal gardens, and the golden lane where people used ot live but now all of the tiny houses are turned into museums of some sort. Lots of history information was there too but Hayley, Hannah, and I were losing our attention span so we didn't read most of it. Mike and his friend, Adam, did though. I also shot a cross bow so that was fun too!
We made our way back to the town center and ate from venders at Old Town Plaza. Then we headed back to the apartment to get ready to go to a bar. The bar we went to was actually a beer factory and it was cool because the beer spout was actually at our table. The machine just kept track of how much you drank and then totaled it up at the end. How unique! We decided we weren't going to go out since we had to leave at 6:30 am the next day and wanted some rest.
HOWEVER since it is me something has to get messed up a little bit, right? Well, Hannah Mike and I went to go get some snacks and a little bit of alcohol from the store across the street. The apartment we were staying at needed a key to get in and out (you could not buzz someone in) so when we got back, Hayley came downstairs to let us in. When she left the apartment the wind blew the door shut just as she remembered she forgot the key! So poor Hayley was locked into the hallway, and the three of us were locked out of the building. We buzzed the most American looking name on the list and luckily he came to let us in. Since Adam wouldn't answer his phone, the four of us had some quality bonding time in the hall for three hours with our snacks and bottle of rum. :) It all turned out okay though! And we left for the airport the next morning. :)
Hannah and I had a 10 hour layover in Barcelona, so naturally..we went to the beach! It was a beautiful day-not too hot and not too cold-and we loved every second of it. We laid in the sand and people watched with our mojitos in our hands, listening to the sound of the waves. How much better can a layover get? After that we went to the airport, caught our late flight back to Spain and landed in Malaga a little before midnight.
We then found a blabla car (people post on the internet when they're driving from city to city and you can pay them to let you ride with) at 1am-thank goodness! This meant we didn't have to spend the night in the airport to wait for the bus the next morning. We made it back to Granada around 2:30 and even got up in the morning for our 8:30am class! That takes talent!
Overall, another great weekend and great experiences to go with it. :) Nice seein ya Prague!
