Saturday 10th October - Palace of Catalan Music

We stopped at this extraordinary building which to all intents and purposes looks like it was built by Gaudi. But no this is one of the world's most extraordinary concert halls, the Palace of Catalan Music was designed in the Catalan modernism style by the architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner.

When Franco was in power from 1939 he destroyed all things Catalan but when he got round to seeing this building he thought not bad so instead of destroying id he just had it covered up with tarpaulins. It was still used as an opera house during his years in power.
