Monday 5th October - Las Ramblas.
We first of all went to the Cathedral and as in other places they were charging to get in and as we had seen a few cathedrals to this stage we didn't bother.
We continued around the cathedral and into a few of the streets that border Las Ramblas. There were lots of souvenir shops all selling the same sort of stuff. Lionel Messi is huge over here and so is the Barcelona Football Club. We bought a couple of little things and moved on to the main street. We came across the "Mercat St Josep, La Boqueria" a huge market selling fresh produce.
There were hundreds of people and it was very hot so we didn't spend much time in there and moved on to a side street and found a bar under the trees.
Jannie had a coffee and I had a beer and we sat and watched the people eating and drinking and the poor fellow that set up and started playing the guitar and singing was sent on his way. There are a number of beggars that just come around the tables asking for money which is somewhat off putting but the girl who got two tapas and a beer and then struggled with eating it all was the main attraction.
We headed for the Metro to get a train home as we needed to put our feet up for a bit before we head out for dinner.
GPS Jannie got us home with the aid of her maps no sweat. Well done Jannie. She reckons that I never say well done!!
