Wednesday 7th October - Dinner out at SMS Restaurant on C d'Asturies.
Tomorrow we had decided to go up to Park Guell which is a city park and originated in 1900 when Count Eusebi Guell bought the tree covered hillside of El Carmel and hired Gaudi to create a miniature city of houses for the very wealthy.
But I'm getting ahead of myself, last night we were preparing to go up the road for dinner to SMS Restaurant and it started to rain. We took the umbrella and our rain coats and walked the couple of blocks to the restaurant and found ourselves a seat.
We hadn't long been inside when the heavens opened and boy did it rain. It pelted down and the people going home from work either sort shelter or just walked on in the pouring rain. Even the cycle riders were walking as the roadway and footpath outside was like a river.
We had the most amazing meal and by far the best meal in Spain and maybe since the Cruise!
And the rain continued to fall and just before we were due to finish our meal it stopped and we were able to walk home without the coats or the umbrella.
However when we got home we opened the door and turned on the lights to the dining area and for a few seconds we could see the water pouring through the light fitting over the table and there was water all over the floor. Then the lights went out with a huge bang.
I phoned Patricia and she phoned me back to say that there would be an electrician come around to fix it?? We found the fuse box all modern with circuit breakers and switched on the power once again after I had turned off the dining room lights. We had lights everywhere else except the dining area.
Eventually Teo and his wife arrived and had the electrician with them. By now the large pot on the floor was full and all of the spare towels were wet through and the water kept on coming through the light fitting and then along a seam in the ceiling.
We eventually had a lovely chat with Teo and his wife and went to bed after they left to the ding, ding, ding of water hitting the pot.
