Camino 3
Uneventful day. The rain seems to have eased, although a bit humid still. Mailed back my bike helmet and a few other things that I won't be needing for the rest of the trip. That will mean I have less to carry around to Paris. I had a walk around the town of Sarria which is less interesting than many of the other Spanish towns I have visited. It is a big town in terms of the Camino as it is the final place that pilgrims can join, walk to Santiago, and still qualify for their compostela. They have to walk a minimum of 100km which just about includes Sarria. I did wander in to the local market where there were cows, chickens, rabbits etc for sale. It didn't seem too busy. Checked out the first part of tomorrow's walk to Portomarin which has a few hills and seemingly a big downhill section in to Portomarin itself. Had a beautiful lunch of first soup, salmon and some wonderful strawberry cheesecake, washed down with some local wine. I've been trying to get everything dry after the soaking but some things still feel a bit damp. Sunshine forecasted for the next few days so hopefully we can get back to normal.

John Edwards You're not exactly slumming it on the culinary front, from the sound of it! The finishing line can't be far off now, can it? You'll be glad to see it, I imagine, though it sounds like it's been a rewarding experience. If it's any consolation, it's been throwing it down here non-stop for the past two days. Torrential at Alty last night, though not quite torrential enough. They managed to finish the game and lost 3-1 to Halifax. Oh dear. Looks like Liverpool are about to announce Jurgen Klopp as manager, which, I fear, may just prove a good appointment. Last thing we need, bloody Scousers up at the top, as well as City. Anyway, everything seems to be in place for next week, so good luck with the final few miles (still can't get used to saying kilometres!)
Chris Hadley Regarding the culinary front. It's well known in the sporting circles that the body needs to be fed appropriately. Regularly and with good food to make it work at peak efficiency.t The fact that I don't have a body which is quite in tune with the good food being consumed is of no concern of mine, and shouldn't be yours either. Suffice to say the food had complemented the trip and it has all been a fantastic experience. Yes, drawing to a close now but a few curly ones still to come. However, seeing the sign showing less that 100km was heartening. I have been reading about Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp etc.. Think United have to concentrate on getting their game together consistently before even thinking about the rest. I Skyped Elaine earlier this week and she is looking forward to Paris too. Looks like my new phone is working but my old one is still working: 0448123257 which by my reckoning should be 01 448123257 when in Paris. The weather earlier this week was torrential and I have now succumb to a cold. Other than that all is well and the weather has started to improve. Apparently it was 34 in Melbourne the other day! Sorry, you will have to get used to km, and, don't forget they drive on the other side of the road! Bye for now, Chris
