Camino 3
So it was some trepidation that I set off for my bike ride. Manoeuvred my way out of Pamplona city and headed off in the direction of the wind farms at Alto del Perdon. I have discovered that Sir Isaac Newton was wrong. What goes up doesn't necessarily come down. The hills seem to go up but not come down by the same amount! I have to admit that I pushed the bike some sections but I was not alone in that. Stopped off for a cyclists morning tea of coffee and a chocolate cake in Puente La Reina. Arrived in Estella ahead of schedule and checked in to another beautiful hotel. Strangely enough I was given room 204. So what you may ask. Well, my room in Pamplona was........204. Strange or what? Had a walk round this lovely old town and had a couple of beers and pinchos. Learnings from today: Leave early before it gets too hot. Don't wear a black shirt! Keep to the roads, don't bother with the Camino track - there will be enough of that later. Don't feel bad about pushing the bike up some hills. Take less stuff in the saddle bags. Be careful on roundabouts - they are back to front! Relax now before dinner, sleep and another big day tomorrow, to Logrono.

John Edwards Saturday the 19th? That's tomorrow - always thought you were ahead of your time! Completely forgot you were doing a daily blog, so have just been catching up. All sounds good. Not sure about the mug shot, though - you've got more grey hairs than me! I'll check each day now to see how you're doing. Don't blame you for giving the bulls a swerve in Pamploma (if they were around), wouldn't fancy that even on a racing bike. Bon chance, matey, and I look forward to the next update. John.
Chris Hadley I haven't a clue what day it is, never mind the date. It's probably set to Aussie time. Had a quiet afternoon in Estella and quiet evening. Don't plan on too many big nights with all the bike riding and walking to do. Maybe on the odd night before a rest day. Grey hair! It cost me a fortune to have those streaks put in! I had a number 2 before I left but it will be grown by the time I hit Paris. Plus no beard trim before then so that will be interesting. Enjoy the blog. Looking forward to catching up. Ooh la la.
Ella Everything looks so pretty! Hahah I always thought there was something off about that Newton fella.. Mmm a hard earned choccy cake :)
Chris Hadley Having plenty of pain au chocolat on your behalf
