Camino 3
A very casual walk along the banks of the river for most of the way. As I was leaving the outskirts of Villafranca I was joined by a lady pushing a trolley full of large bottles of water. She spoke almost non stop as she keep up with me for 3km. From what I could gather she did this trip each day to take water back up to her place in the hills because the water up there made her sick. I ventured off at one point to look at a small village and when I reached the road again she was there, but this time with a couple of other unsuspecting pilgrims. Maybe she does it for company. Arrived before lunchtime so had a nice lunch of local ham and capsicum, followed by grilled hake and then cheesecake. Washed down with a couple of glasses of local red. Internet not too good here as we are in the foothills. I think it is preparing me for a challenging trek tomorrow. I notice rain is forecasted for 2 or 3 days following that. I've had a good run thus far. I know I go on about this but..........just had beautiful 3 course dinner including a bottle of local red wine for the equivalent of $15.00. This was proper white tablecloth, etc.. Ok, enough. Bed time. Then I will work it off tomorrow.
