Camino 3
Got away early, a bit too early really as the first part was through forest and rough underfoot so had to use my torch. Anyway, no dramas and made it to Santiago without rain. Santiago is a big city so there is a long walk through the city to the Cathedral. Once I hit the city outskirts then the rain came although it wasn't heavy. The arrival at the the Cathedral square wasn't what I had anticipated. Because it was raining it was quite subdued. I did, however, sit done on the floor and look at the Cathedral and have a bit of a think about what had gone on over the past 4 weeks. The Cathedral doesn't look the best at the moment as it is under repair and so has scaffolding all over. I finally found my hotel and checked in. My bag hadn't arrived as yet and they told me there were no laundry facilities as today is Sunday and tomorrow is a Bank Holiday. So I will just have to smell until I get to Paris. My bag arrived, I had a shower, and put on what clean clothes I had and went down to get my Compostela. The queue wasn't too bad and it had stopped raining so after queuing for about 30 minutes I presented my Pilgrims Passport which was duly signed off and my Compostela was issued. That felt like the real end of the journey as it made it official. Had a quick beer to celebrate than back to the hotel to put it in the safe before I went out for dinner and drinks. I couldn't trust myself thinking that I might leave it in a bar somewhere!

Pat. newlove Well done!!!!!! Can't tell to how proud iambic you. This trip seems to have made you a bit more spiritual. Relax now and have a great time in Paris. Keep up with the blog whilst you are there so I know what you are doing. All my love, Paradoxes
John Edwards Good effort CDH! Just arrived in Paris. Will try and contact you in the morning.
Chris Hadley Either you have been drinking or prescriptive text is working overtime! Anyway, thanks for your kind words. I don't know about more spiritual and my visit to the cathedral today didn't sway me that way I am afraid. However, a couple of cops of vino Tinto calmed my nerves. I will endeavour to keep you up to date in Paris and apparently we do have wifi in the apartment. Weather forecast is pretty cold so I had better rug up. Look after yourself. Love, Chris Xxx
Chris Hadley G'day. I expect to arrive at the apartment mid to late afternoon. I had hoped to have some laundry done and have my beard trimmed but as it is a bank holiday in Santiago today neither of those happened. So you will probably be able to smell when I land at Orly. Enjoy your evening in the city of love! Nudge, nudge. See you tomorrow. Yay. I am going out for my last night of vino Tinto in Espana. I've enjoyed a day without a back pack!
