Arrived from Pamplona via Madrid. Met Elaine at the airport and got a taxi to the apartment. All good so far. Went out for dinner and then couldn't find the right room as they all look alike and then couldn't get the key to work. Finally sorted it out and had a good nights sleep. Had breakfast round the corner in the first full day and then had a walk around including the market. We then met up with Alison and John at the cathedral. A bite to eat and a drink before a look round the cathedral. Then walked down to the marina for a look around and drink. Weather perfect. The idea then was to meet up and have a meal in the evening. However, due to John's uncanny sense of direction and inability to read a map they never made it back, having got lost on the metro. Elaine and I had a lovely meal at a local restaurant including paella. It seemed to be small restaurant but it had many rooms and access was directly through the kitchen. Wednesday saw us breakfasting at the same place as the previous day and then we arranged to meet John and Alison at Barceloneta. This time we did meet up! Had a drink on the beach and a leisurely walk along the beach in very windy conditions before stopping for another drink and snack. Beautiful clear sky and about 26 degrees. Dinner was a leisurely affair near the cathedral. After breakfast at our usual cafe we walked up to Sagrada Familia to meet with John and Alison. I had booked tickets on line and all went perfectly from the tickets being read on entry, to getting the audio guides and the elevator up the tower. A spectacular building which is now scheduled for completion in 2026 which is the anniversary of Gaudi. A light lunch before walking back to the apartment.
