Greifswald Wieck is on the coast. Greifswald is 5 klm up the river, we stayed in Wieck in a box mooring. Box moorings are 2 huge posts banged into the water about 1 1/2 boat lengths away from the wall, so as you drive In between the posts you place a long rope over each post then move up to the wall and then fixing 2 more bow lines to the land, there by the yacht is suspended between the posts and the land allowing easy access via the bow. Kröslin marina is a huge modem marina very good for keeping boats in but not a particularly nice place. It is across the river from Penermunde the development site for the V rockets from WW2 we have visited before so did not bother. After leaving Poland we stopped for one night in an anchorage on the other side of Kruminer Wiek We had enjoyed a good sail up though the rivers racing a few other yachts. Wolgast is a small town, nowadays the big blue bridge seems to be be its image. There is some ship building there and the moorings are old fashioned harbour wall as opposed to a modern marina. We had rain, we have had such a good season that the odd day doesn’t matter.

We arrived here in flat calm and decided to anchor off the beach as it was such a lovely evening, unfortunately the wind changed and built during the night, by morning it was blowing a good F4/5. Our Rocnor anchor was great but it had become very uncomfortable. The river is about a mile up to the town where we found a very pleasant town. We had a much calmer night tied up to the town quay. We cycled for most of the afternoon enjoying a fish lunch on route.

We left Hiddensee this morning heading towards Poland, there are 3 bridges that have to open they only open a few times a day so timing is important. The first night we anchored below Stralsund in Glewilzer Wiek taking the bridge opening at 12.20 at Stralsund.
