Day 24- September 3, 36 miles HAPPY ANNIVERSARY GEORGE 46 Bodega Dines to Olema Camp Ground Fog at camp site. Headed inland, blue sky- Yeh! Now in dry farm land, away from coast. Valley Ford, 1st town, then Tomales, good deli and popular destination of bikers and motorcycles - plus a cute tourist spot. Day 23- September 2- 68 miles Manchester Beach to Bodega Dunes So cold waking up to loud sound of pounding surf. Quickly dressed and packed - on road. At Point Arena stopped to warm up and have breakfast. Foggy all day. No shoulders, more ups and downs. Passed historic Fort Ross( built by Russians and Eskimos). Day 22-September 1 -38 miles Fort Bragg to Manchester Beach. Breakie at Motel- on road by 8am. Short day but strenuous, "Highway 1 hugs the rugged coast dropping on and then climbing out of the many narrow canyons that cut the steep cliffs". States my guide book. Day 21- August 31- Fort Bragg Rest Day!! What a nice rest day. Early breakfast courtesy of motel. Then short walk to Old Town. Visited some art shops, glass place, Safeway for provisions. Annual gem and glass show, got new time on Phone card. Picked up bikes from "Fort Bragg Cyclery", reasonable and great service.
