Day 22-September 1 -38 miles
Fort Bragg to Manchester Beach.
Breakie at Motel- on road by 8am. Short day but strenuous, "Highway 1 hugs the rugged coast dropping on and then climbing out of the many narrow canyons that cut the steep cliffs". States my guide book. We stopped for break at Albion, then again in Elk at Queenie's cafe! Cute - lady asked us to stay at her house- but declined, nice gesture!
Met BLUE, at turnoff to Manchester Beach. This young man hiked the Appalachian trail from Georgia to Canada last year- six months! Now he is biking like us down the Pacific Coast to San Francisco. He is one of the bikers we see regularly. Have met others biking, but they either are going faster or some others are stopping to explore more. So far all really nice people. So cold in this camp- in tent in sleeping bag to warm up. Waiting for this warm weather everyone talks about!! Very busy here.
