Day 35- September 14- 45miles Leo Carrillo State Park to Redondo Beach Woke to sun, no fog. Poor sleep- howling coyotes, thundering waves, and constant traffic. Day 34- Sept. 13- Thursday- 60.5 miles Santa Barbara to Leo Carrillo State Beach. Left Santa Barbara in fog, along side streets to Cabrillo Blvd. and Carpinteria, our first stop. Then 101 and highway 1 to Emma Wood State Beach and a Bike trail along beach onto side streets through Ventura onto Oxnard and Port Hueneme where there was a colourful Fisherman's Wharf and info about the Channel Islands. Day 33- September 12- 60 Miles Lompoc to Santa Barbara Left Lomboc in overcast skies and coast al fog. Climbed out of valley then had a fast ride down to coast from #1 to freeway 101, thankfully good shoulders. No services till Goleta at 45 miles. Day 32- September 11- 44miles Pismo Beach to Lompoc Packed and out of camp- glad to leave- California with all their cut backs are not doing anything for their State Parks, in urban centers! But still charge a lot, also see more homeless! Could not find a Cafe till Arroyo Grande at "Tanner Jacks". Cowboy restaurant with great food at reasonable prices. Day 31- September 10- 55miles Happy Birthday Brother, wishing you all the best and many more bike rides! San Simeon to Pismo Beach, North Beach State Park. Up and out to Cambria for breakfast. Then a fast ride to Cayucos next Morro Bay (has an enormous Rock out in the water standing sentinel duty in the bay).
