Happy Birthday Janet...my beautiful Niece!
August 28- Day 18- 66.4miles fog to sun
Eureka to Myers Flat. Woke early, fogged in. Made quick breakfast, packed and onto #101 to Eureka and followed bike route through town, some very beautiful ornate Victorian architecture. Following ACA maps- it had us turn off 101 to Loleta along Eel River, then another side trip to a lovely town "Ferndale". (Picture) It too had many ornate Victorian homes and downtown area, including a very old post office. Here we had break and snack, then continued on. This is dairy and cattle country- you see many herds all grazing on farm land, very pretty. NICE!
Then "grizzly bluff" - 10-15 percent grade, yuck! Finally got to Scotia and 5 miles later biked onto the "Avenue of Giants". Similar to the day before but this was wonderful not many hills, shaded, cool, some narrow roads. Passed Humboldt State Park but too shady, need sunny area to dry stuff. So ended up in Myers Flat at a camp ground by Eel river. Got some pork and beans, very limited. i pad finicky, so will post when I can.
