Garry and I had a nice early start up at 4.30am and we drove into Kununurra. Kylie and Shaun did us the biggest favour by looking after all 3 of our boys. I did feel a little sick leaving them at camp this morning.
At 6 am us and an Irish couple took off with Kimberley Air on a model Cessna 210 a very small plane. Would have loved to do the float plane but that finished at the end of September.
We flew over the Diversion Dam at Kununurra, Lake Argyle, The Bungle Bungles and Argyle Diamond Mine. Was great to see everything from above. Still amazed at the size of Lake Argyle. He said it's actually classified as an inland sea.
It was a shame there were fires at the Bungle Bungles so the air was fairly hazy. The section that was on fire he said is the Gibb area the main place where everyone photographs.
Had a great time on the flight and am very thankful to the Brady's!
Glad we did the 6am flight as it was starting to get warm in the plane by the time we landed.
We got a couple more things at the supermarket and headed back to Lake Argyle.
It was great to have all the kids yelling screaming at us that they had missed us and that they had waved at us as we flew over them.
We got into packing up camp which didn't take us too long then it was into the pool for one last swim.
We had our lunch and then hit the road for Timber Creek.
We are now back in the NT. Have really enjoyed WA it has so much to offer, and I miss it. Next time we will head south and catch up with all of our mates :)
Shaun had a relly to catch up with at Timber Creek but he was away working. Gaz took the boys for a walk down to the creek and they spotted 3 fresh water crocs. We then drove onto Victoria River to find a free camp spot. We found a beautiful spot on a dry river rock bed just before town. The guys went for a walk first to make sure it was ok as it said 4WD only. They took the 2way and called Kylie and I to drive the campers down.
We all had left over bolognaise sandwiches for tea which was a first for me and they were yummy. Kylie cooked up our first fruit cobbler of the trip which was awesome!!
