We treated the kids to cereal this morning, as we had just been having yoghurts and fruit in the car to save a bit of time.
We were supposed to drive past Punmu but somehow we ended up driving through into town and out to their tip. Lovely scenic drive :) met a lovely friendly aboriginal man on the tractor and his wife was on the back riding on the trailer.
We got a few bars of phone range outside of Telfer mine so we pulled up in the shade for some lunch.
We spotted a "short cut" road on the map instead of going to Marble bar head down towards Woodie Woodie mine then head west to Nullagine. We asked a few travelers what the short cut road was like they said yep as good as the wide lovely graded Telfer road we were traveling on. I reckon they would still be laughing!
We turned onto the dirt road and were straight into driving through a beautiful river bed. Was a lovely stop to use the Jerry cans and let the kids have a play. They loved the stop, trying to skim rocks into the water, playing amongst the good climbing trees.
The 146kms short cut road took us a good 3 hours as it was very up and down, creek crossings thankfully no water got in the van. It was a very beautiful scenic drive though which made it worth it.
We got into Nullagine at about 6.30 with the sun gone and the moon well and truly up. We cheated and ordered pizzas which were yum for tea since we got in so late.
Ben's wobbly 2nd bottom tooth came out whilst he was enjoying his pizza. We put it in a cup with some water and pepper to make the tooth fairy sneeze and hopefully drop more money.
OMG how nice it was to have a shower and wash my hair after bush camping for 3 nights :)
