We arrived into Katherine and headed to the visitor centre to suss out there and Mataranka. The lady ruled out Katherine gorge for us with the kids and it's getting to hot now for walks.
We decided to have lunch at the golf club and then head off to Mataranka for the night.
We ended up staying at the caravan park closest to Bitter Springs.
After set up and a few drinks easy snags in bread it was for tea :)
The kids are starting to sleep in for longer in the mornings now thankfully, slowly getting back to their QLD body clocks. We got up bathers straight on, packed up camp and got ready to walk down to Bitter Springs.
We had hired some noodles from the caravan kiosk. The water was crystal clear but a bit stinky. Like the Rotorua rotten egg smell.
Everybody jumped in with their noodles, Zane was in his floaty ring and they floated down the springs. I had a quick phone chat with my cousin Jorbie before he flew back to America, glad we got to chat.
I did a lap around the beautiful springs by myself which was very relaxing :)
They all did another lap but Kylie and I hopped out with Archie and Sean.
We're on the road again and just pulled into Larrimah Hotel with the pink panther out front. It also had a free zoo to take the kids through. It was a bit run down and had been let go a bit. I had a little wolf creek feeling. Ben however loved running around the cages looking at the animals. Gaz enjoyed the museum there and it looks like it was fairly popular in its hey day. Sean and Zane were both asleep in the car.
The poor Brady's aircon has gone in the car so I am feeling for them. I'm feeling a little guilty sitting here a little chilled in our car.
Next stop was the Daly Waters pub. A pub with lots of memorabilia hanging everywhere. They had shirts, undies, bras, money, licenses, Army badges, hats (Gaz even spotted a BMA Goonyella Riverside hat hanging there). Lots to look at, outside looked a nice place to sit and have a feed and a few drinks too.
We ended up camping at Renner Springs for the night. A late set up as we didn't get in until after 6 but didn't unpack much as we are planning an early kick off to get to Mt Isa.
