Friday we drove to Port Hedland and went straight to the information centre and had a beautiful shower $2.50 each and got local papers etc. Checked out the town, drove onto the sand to take a photo and got bogged. Let the tyres down once again and drove out.
Drove to South Hedland looked around and shared a subway for dinner.
Lots of aboriginals sitting around, they mess up toilets so badly that when I went to go to the toilet at McDonalds usually a reliable spot, it was locked. You have to ask and they have a secret button behind the counter to open them.
The caravan parks are either full or don't take dogs so we needed to find somewhere for the night. Went to the boat ramp at Finucane Island a great spot but Rose is very allergic to midgies and I think they come through the fly screens so we shifted. looked around for quite a while and ended up near the speedway a fair way out of town. A nice spot.
This morning we went back for a shower at the information centre then went and checked out the Dalgetty museum. I found an old catalogue of theirs really interesting.
Checked out the area some more and have ended up back near the speedway track. There is much more traffic around tonight and the activities of our indigenous brothers bothers us a bit.
