Saturday morning we went to the market in Carnarvon and were a bit disappointed. Went back to the caravan park and had a good clean up of everything.
Sunday morning we went to the Church of Christ service, a small congregation with a young pastor and his wife running it.
In the evening we checked out a beach area near the mouth of the river and a couple of very rough looking young blokes came along that we were wary of, then they brought out a large cutting board and threw a metre long fish on it to fillet. They turned out to be a couple of good blokes that we watched as they dealt with the fish, they gave us a good feed from it.
Went to a service put on by kids at the Christian school. There were 10 young folk from YWAM there who had arrived to serve in the area for a couple of weeks. They were from all over the world and had left France the previous Sunday where they had been on mission. The whole thing was a bit ordinary, we felt the YWAMers weren't given a fair go.
We went back to the beach to camp for the night, there were 4 young English backpackers in an old van, the two girls looked like they were sleeping on the roof.
This morning we did some shopping, a big line up to fill up with water from behind the toilets, lots of vans lined up. Then a big line up to fuel up at the cheapest service station.
We stopped at Minilya roadhouse for a break. There were 3 young German backpackers looking for a lift to Exmouth where they had left their vehicle. They couldn't get a lift so we offered to take them through to Coral Bay, so they joined us for the 100km trip, Nina, Simone and Robert. We had a fun time with them hearing about their world adventures.
Coral Bay is full up so we camped at a rest stop 12 kms out of town, there were 9 vans with us when we woke in the morning including a car that had put up 2 tents in the middle of the night.
