Had a look around this morning then decided we would head further east. So we headed down a 4wd track which turned out to be very narrow and rough, did a creek crossing and kept going on until there was a track through to the beach. It was a bit much for us, so thought I would do one of those difficult turn arounds and the VW ground to a halt. Tyres down to 20psi, no good, we were very much on our own and didn't look like anyone had been here for a while, so help was a fair way off. Therefore we took the tyres down to 15psi and used the spade to get rid of the build up around the wheels and crawled out without too much stress. Actually I copped a fair bit of stress but we were pretty gentle on the vehicle.
Finally made our way out to the main road and headed around to Alexander Bay where there are toilets and an honesty box asking for $2.00 donation as against the park at Duke of Orleans Bay was $28.00 with no power. What a fantastic spot we found to park on the beach. There were a couple of 4wd's around a bit with some biiig dogs that were a bit of a worry. Also 3 or 4 other campers about, all looking very rugged as there was no chance of a shower.
We chatted to a young bloke fishing, he had caught a dozen herring with a lure, not very big but a good feed. We went to bed early.
