Next day we decided to make the next to runs of our trip home long as we knew there wasn't much to see as we'd done it all before. Also Carey was itching to do a distant drive. So we headed for Eucla which is the last town in WA. Some 895 KM.
It wasn't a bad drive. We stopped at Norseman for breakfast. Then refueled and let Balladonia know we weren't needing a room there that night it was only 11.30 so lots of time to keep driving. We then headed along the 90 mile straight before stopping at Caiguna for a drink. That is the best thing about this stretch of road its not that many km between roadhouses. From Caiguna to Eucla Carey really got into the driving zone and we didn't stop at another roadhouse just stopped at a layby for a stretch. It was the first time we had done any dusk driving on our whole trip so I found it interesting how it went from not seeing a single Kangaroo to them just standing on the side of the road. Carey said this was a bad stretch of road for Roos so he really wanted to get through before total dark. Luckily we only had half hour where the headlights become a problem with the Roos.
In the first hour of our driving that day though we had seen a few Emus on the side of the road. One dad with a group of chicks. Luckily for us and them they didn't decide to come onto the highway.
At Eucla we got a room 2 down from our outward trip and it was setup differently. We were so tired that I went and got food from the restaurant to eat in the room. Then we watched a little TV and I think both a sleep by 9.
