Both of us woke up a few times over night just to check all was well and apart from it being zero degrees and freezing it was a safe and quiet camp. Anna woke up at 4am, packed her bag and began to climb into our bed but I managed to convince her to stay where she was and within seconds she was fast asleep again. The next time anyone woke up it was nearly 8am and the sun was shining! We had a big breakfast of cereal and eggs on toast then hit the road again. We called into Chinchilla tourist information centre and gave them our donation of $5 for the power - we'd felt so remote last night and only a few minutes away was a massive town with all the fast food outlets and several housing estates!! The A2 seemed to improve the further west we got and the drive was very similar to WA - lots of huge flat brown paddocks everywhere you looked. We stopped for lunch at a fantastic little town called Muckadilla where we found a great park with picnic tables and all the facilities. We met several other caravaners there, had a lovely homemade lunch and ran the generator for a coffee. There were lots of butterflies around and the kids ran around for an hour and a half trying to catch them. We had quite a short drive after lunch and arrived at Morven around 3.30pm. We found the rec centre where the council offers free camping around the sports oval for a small donation. They also provide about 12 powered sites but by the time we pulled up these were all taken. We parked at the other side of the oval staying well away from everyone so that we could use our generator and it turned out much better as it gave us a clear view of the play ground and skate park where the kids spent all afternoon!! Nick and I sat in the sun with a coffee planning the rest of the route while we watched them but there seems little to fear here as the town has a great feel. I made dinner while Nick had a kick of the footie with the boys and everyone needed a shower, as feet were black! We had great TV reception again so we sat around the box for a bit before bed.
