We had a very early start today, 5am, due to a wet bed - typical on a travel day! Nick stayed awake to wash and dry the bed linen and it was all done by the time I woke up at 7am!! We had our final breakfast with Grace, packed up the van and said goodbyes and were on the road just after 9am. The roads seemed fairly chaotic all the way to Toowoomba due to lots of trucks and road works, but once through Toowoomba things settled down a bit and we began to feel quite remote. We reached Chinchilla Weir just before 4pm having had two short stops on the way and the kids were completely over being in the car! They've grown soft with the short distances travelled in Victoria and NSW!! Chinchilla Weir is a great campsite provided by the council. It has power points available in return for a $5 donation to the tourist information centre and we were lucky enough to score the last power point. We did a very quick set up and then went for a walk around the weir before the sun set. Nick and I had a bowl of veggie soup watching the sun go down over the water then had to move inside and put the heater on as it was freezing. We had TV reception so after dinner skipped showers and chilled out in front of the box. There are flushing toilets just across the road but it was pitch black outside (except for an awesome starry sky) so we had to go en mass with lots of torches every time someone needed a pee!
