Unfortunately, Annie didn't sleep very well last night and climbed into bed with us around 2 am. She needed the toilet first so the two of us walked across the camp to the amenity block and saw a few Roos on our way - I miss our ensuite!! By 4 am Nick gave up trying to sleep and moved outside to our camp chairs to have more space! Once everyone was awake at 730 am he came back inside to bed to warm up for an hour as he was frozen. We ate breakfast outside surrounded by chickens as the kids kept 'accidently' dropping their toast and did another load of washing before heading into Charters Towers for another look around and more shopping. We were home in time for lunch and found a dozen eggs sitting by the front door - a gift from the camp owners rather then directly from the chickens as they came in an egg carton!! We all had some much needed relaxation time with a book under the shade of a big tree and the kids played in Nick's hammock. Nick spent the afternoon packing up the top of the car again and then everyone went down to the river for a swim - except me as it was freezing!!! I took photos and then returned for a coffee and a read! Once finished with the river, Jonny and Anna went for a swim in the pool, which was even colder, while Katharine and Matty had a shower. The kids played until it was time for dinner and once they were ready for bed Nick and I began packing up the outside of the van and hitched on. Tomorrow we are heading to Cairns and although its only about 450 kms away we've been warned that it will be a very long drive so we are hoping for an early start!
