Woke up this morning to rain and fog. One would never know we were on the side of a mountain!! Breakfast of bread and coffee seems to be the norm..we have made some friends with our fellow pilgrims and had breakfast together... Mom decided the 20 km walk over the top would be too much so her and another lady took a taxi.... I went on with another two ladies who were perfect walking partners.... We walked 15 more kms to the peak.... Stopping just before the peak at a cute mountain cabin for our lunch we had made for us at the albergue .... Baguette with cheese and ham.....we walked along a road for a long time... We could hear the dong of bells around us and as we got closer we were surrounded by horses it was so amazing and definitely a moment to be remembered ... The trail was everything from paved to rocky scrambling to walking through treed foggy hollows I can't wait to upload pictures .... I was wishing for downhill for so long and was so happy to see down... My hips weren't !!! But I made it to the albergue and mom was waiting for me with my bunk so am happy we are staying close to eachother I may have a slight fear of losing her and not finding her again but today let me know I can go on ahead and she will be found....I am laying in my bunk with my feet up for now... There is a pilgrims blessing at six and our supper is booked for seven..... I have taken an advil and need a shower to kill the chill....shower complete and minor surgery on a blister with a helping of second skin then off to the pilgrims blessing which turned into a full on mass!! I did not spontaneously combust so all is well... Then pilgrims supper.... More bread and soup and fish... It could of been cold mash for all I cared am sure everyone in the church could hear my stomach grumbling!!!! Left the restaurant in a torrential down pour... After I had everything dry from the wet day I had .... Oh well I have till morning for it to dry again .... Couple glasses of wine at supper will hopefully mask the mass of snoring about to take place in this building....so tired.... Gnight!!

Susie and John Hamill Hi Marty, Sounds like a good start to your journey, except for the rain. I'm sure you'll have lots of good weather to make up for it though! Say hi to mama bear for us. We are thinking of you both! Good walking today!
