So last night at supper we had a great laugh at the expense of a German lady who was carrying a hair dryer in her pack.... She had a laugh at all of us this morning when she started her day with dry socks and shoes!!! I thought she was drying her hair for a very long time last night.... Guess it was the shoes!!! The downhill came today and downhill it was... Straight down pretty much for 8kms on very very muddy(and cow dung mixed in) and rocky.... It was so slippery and treacherous from all the rain.... The sun was out and the hills were so green it was unbelievable...we were both pretty quiet today ... No talking.... Full concentration on rocky path... Mom had a few ankle tweeks so it was kinda scary...we had a dog follow us for quite a while... He just followed behind us slowly... When we came to a village he stood at the entrance and watched us go...so we figured he was done... About 10 minutes later after walking through the village he was sitting there and continued following us....mom figured he was our angel... He did eventually wander off... We made it to Triacastela and found a bar, sat down with a cool juice.... Two men on horses came up and tied up their horses outside... Turns out they were doing the camino on horseback.... Should of hitched a ride.... Instead we found a taxi and got a ride into Sarria...the lady driving did not want to take us to the city centre so we had to walk.... We were both done when we finally found the camino up to the cathedral.... I just wanted to find a place to stay... My guide said there was a hostal nearby.... We walked a little and found this building that said hotel on it.... We went in and there we stayed even though it wasn't the place we were looking for.... We have a huge window in our room that looks up to Cathedral.... Mom can lay in her bed and see it....another room with a view! We tried finding out if there was a Holy Thursday service for mom but the only thing we could figure out was there is a mass every night at the cathedral at 730.... We headed up that way to find supper around 6 and I just popped my head into the church and mass had started so mom hussled in and I wondered around for about ten minutes when a crazy thunder and lightening storm blew in..... I hid in door stoops along the road and then in the front entrance to the cathedral....then just as mass was over the sun came out!! After we went down to the river and found a place to eat.... Chicken noodle soup and a big mixed salad.... Perfect... We walked along the river and watched the swans and fish jump.... Back to our hotel and a hot shower with real towel to dry off with.... And into bed with no bunk above to crack my head or no ladder to climb !!!! And real sheets.... Night Night!

TL Lovin' the blog roomie! Great scenery and experiences that's for sure. Awesomeness!! :)
Maxine, Fred and Paige Forsyth Loving your blogs, Martha. Never knew you were such a good travel writer! and so humorous too!! Which is worse, the sun or the rain??? Fred says if you start walking at 5 a.m., you can stop at 2 p.m. and get a better room/bed. Whatever suits I guess. Our prayers are with you both! I'm sure your mom is loving your time together! Love the scenery.
Marcus Can't wait to see all your pictures and learn how to make this cafe con leche! It sounds delicious! Miss you my friend!
