So we woke up in Leon and in much need of some cafe con leche and breakfast... We both had not slept well so we went for breakfast and visited the tourist office to get the down low on what to see and do..... Then we went back to our hostal and had a nap all by noon!! We went to visit the cathedral which was no where near as magnificent as the one in Burgos but it was interesting.... We found our way to an outdoor market which was very cool.... Everyone out getting there groceries on a Saturday afternoon! Was fun to just walk around and check it out....we have noticed there are so many sets of twins.... Double strollers everywhere.... Just one if those things that stick out! At the market there was someone selling palms and mom wanted one to put on her pack for the week... We watched this guy tell everyone who came up it was 4 euros and they were buying them so mom went up assuming they were 4 euros picked one and gave him a ten.... He gave her 3 euros back and she held her hand out for the rest and he said no they were 7.... So she gave it back and asked for her money back.... Guess he thought he could scam the tourists!!! Not!! It is leading up to Easter so there are all kinds processions in every corner of this city....we went to one called the procession Jesus de la Esperanza which I really don't know the translation for it was interesting... There were bands playing trumpets and drums and these huge statues of jesus and another of Mary and Jesus all being carried by a whole bunch of people in robes with hoods that covered there faces and then more people with cone like hoods all in black or purple..... Will have to wait for pics!! Mom wanted to find mass so we went back to the cathedral and mom went to a wedding.... They must of been some important to get married in the cathedral.... Mom even went up for communion in her blue fleece and hiking boots among these people dressed in tuxes and gowns.... Only mom!! I spent an hour watching people in the square.... Actually I spent most of it dodging pidgins that children were chasing around...I am always the one who gets shat on so I was on high alert !! Mom came out and we happened upon another procession called the procession de Hermandad....back to our room to chill out... We can still hear the processions and trumpets and drums from our room.....we must move on from Leon tomorrow... Mom and I sat down with the Map today to talk about our plan and time left.... I really want to go up O'Cebreiro as well as the last stage from Sarria to Santiago....I also want to see Finnesterre....will just take a bus tour there from Santiago.... So we are going to Villafranca del Bierzo tomorrow and will walk from there....enjoyed another nice hot bath back to albergue's tomorrow and cold showers and sharing a room with lots of people!
