We woke up in our stone house in the middle of no where after a peaceful sleep it was so quiet.... Mom had to wake me up at 715 and I am usually awake by 600...we had a muffin and headed back out to the Camino...we walked into a village called Hontana about 6 km away and along the way decided to move ahead to Leon for the weekend.... We explored the village then took the bus to the next village Castrojeriz for lunch and explored it as well.... Back on the bus to Fromista to see the Canal de Castilla....which I really wanted to see.... We were able to get a train from there to Leon.... We arrived at 7 pm and had no idea where we were going to stay..... We just started walking towards the big cathedral.... There was an information place there but it was closed .... We took a deep breath and looked in our books and started walking.... I went into a store to ask for help and mom stood outside .... She must of had a look of a lost pilgrim because a nice young man from Germany approached her and asked if she needed to find the albergue.... She told him she was looking for a pension/hostel ....he told us he was staying at a place just up the road and it was clean, quiet and reasonably priced.... So we trusted and went with him.... He brought us through this building and upstairs into this sitting room.... A lady came out and he told her in Spanish we were looking for a room and I interjected with... Bano!!! I want my own bathroom..... So she brought us to this room, two single beds and a bathroom with a BATHTUB!!! Sold!!! Staying here for the weekend!!!

Joannie Warnshuis Can you send me the name of your nice place in Leon? I have 2 friends who will be walking in Sept, looking for hotels, not albergues. Your place sounds MUCH nicer than the one I stayed - my 1st night in Spain, near the train station....from some of the nighttime hollywood-variety sound effects, & general feel of the neighborhood, I think I may have been the only tenant not making money during my stay.
