Happiness Is The Road
Didn't have a particularly comfortable night. Being very tired I think I had made up the bed wrong and got the wrong sleeping bag out and left a window open (it does still get cold here at night at this time of year). Hopefully tonight will be better as I've got a better plan. But despite of this it was still excellent to have spent my first night in the camper. The campsite is very big and the facilities are clean. After a lovely breakfast outside I just spent a bit of time reading, soaking up the sun (a nice 28 degrees today), and catching up on emails and general admin boring stuff from home. This avo I went to Woolworths again (keep forgetting stuff) and then had a drive out to Darlington in the Perth Hills to see Michael and Josephine (my friend Caroline's dad an step mum). I thought it would only take half an hour but my new Tom Tom said 50 minutes, so quite a way then! I love my new Australian Tom Tom by the way. I've chosen the Aussie voice for it and he comes up with some great aussie phrases like 'chuck a u'ey'. Tom Tom got me there okay in the end, I went wrong a couple of times, but Tom Tom didn't seem to get annoyed. Got there along the Roe Highway amongst others. There house is right in the bush and up in the hills and is in a lovely quiet spot. It is a very traditional house with a lovely big wooden shady verandah around the outside. I had a lovely cup of tea and had a great chat with then about all things Perth and Australia. They admired my camper before I left and wished me a great adventure. I hit the rush hour on my way back and my first ever Perth traffic jam on the Roe Highway. When I was last here 14 years ago Perth didn't seem to have a rush hour and the roads were fairly quiet even at 5pm, but things are different now. The population has massively increased and with it the traffic. I had roo again for tea! I cooked myself kangaroo burgers with potatoes and a salad, extremley yummy! I made up the bed a different way tonight so hopefully a better night's sleep. BIG YAWN and nite nite.i
