There is a 2 year old at Sanyu, called Francis. He can't hold his neck in the middle, so is always looking to the side, he cant move his arms and legs and has muscular spasms. I always make sure he comes outside for part of the day, otheriwse he's just left in his cot. Anyway, found out today he is getting adopted! Brilliant :) I just know he'll get alot better, so much quicker!
Also there is a 1 year old, we call her crazy Christine, she's always bouncing, escaping, always on the move :) Turns out that Christine isn't adopted which was a shock, as she is simly the sweetest but what happens is when you apply for adoption you have to see if that child has any family members and a couple had to look into this and 2 Auntys were found. Because of this the law is that maybe sometime in the future the Auntys may want to take care of Christine, so she can never be up for adoption! It's so unfair, as she could actually end up being in childrens homes for the rest of her life now!
I had my first Writing Club Tuesday after school. I told them that whoever is the best improved I'd give them some chocolate, then a lad came in late and his friend ran up to him, mumbled something and then he came up to me said 'Madam is it true we could get some chocolate?' When I told him yes, cor his eyes grew wide. I think they're defiantly going to wrk extra hard now! And yeah, it went well :)
We tried Grasshoppers on Wednesday. It was okay, salty, crunchy head, soft body :) It's defiantly not a snack we'll be mucnhing on all the time, like everyone else but they weren't horrid.
At the moment the World Cup trophy is touring Africa and it's coming to Uganda. Vic and me left school early on Friday to head down to Lugogo Cricket Oval, only to find out it's tomorrow! Hopefully we'll be able to get a photo with it. Also on Sunday, we are starting Salsa Dancing.. Hmm, yeah I'll let you know how it goes :)
Coming home on Friday in the mataou (taxi) the driver was overtaking 2 cars and next thing we know, he'd hit a cyclist and the taxi mirror folded in with the mirror glass shattering and flying through the window! The taxi didn't stop, to check if the cyclist was even alive! So we were involved in a hit and run. It could have been alot worse, even a head on collision with an oncoming vehicle but still it wasn't nice!
All this week, Mr Sentoogo has been giving us lessons on religion. He's been reading us stories, showing us pictures etc. Vic and me have been reading the bible, it's interesting and we actually found some great life quotes.
I must say I'm still not convinced but it's interesting and I would like to say at least I've tried believing it, so that's what we're going to do this year, dabble with the Catholic religion.
Vic and me have been had a bit of flu this week. We're okay, just chesty cough, runny nose but it got me thinking. With Vic being really ill last week, I can understand why people end up going home.
There's no hot shower, water on tap, instant food etc. Everything is an effort and obviously more so when your ill. It sounds like I'm saying our environment is dreadful, it's really not! But I'm sure you get my point :)
Been going through our Lonely Planet guide, planning our travels and it's so exciting! Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Zanzibar :) And then in May we get a months holiday, so Rwanda :)
I'll let you know soon, exactly what we're going to be doing :)
Also the picture of the spider I put online last weekend - Aren't you impressed!
A person who is scared of spiders back home, I really wasn't here and was snapping away with camera :) I think it's because it didn't look like a spider but a cross of a frog, cockroache and grasshopper. Lovely :)
I would like to thank Diane Workman, who wonderfully sent me a jar of Marmite! Big thanks, I can now have my daily fix and not be grumpy for school ;)
Lots of Love x x x x
