Madam Emma Roberts has officially been a Ugandan for 1 whole month! :D
I feel I've settled into life here perfectly! Collecting water, lighting the fire, washing outside etc it hasn't been a struggle but seemed to come naturally and it doesn't seem to be a chore. Although I really really don't like collecting water, it's so hard :)
Living here is extremly cheap! It's 3,000 Ugandan Shillings to our 1 pound.
Pineapple - 1500-2000 Sh/
2 Onion, 3 Carrots, 3 Tomatos - 1000 Sh/
Donut - 200 Sh/
Loaf of Bread - 1,200 Sh/
We've been picking up the language quite well. We know basic words -
Pardon, Thank You, I Will Kick You, Go Away, GoodNight..
Going to learn some sentences so we can use them at the market.
Rhiannon is leaving Ugandan on Wednesday. She was at a Secondary School and really not enjoying it. She's going to South Africa with Project Trust still in 4 weeks to do Care Work. Luckily she was in a group of 3, so the 2 other girls are still together.
Caitlin and Rosie have spent the week in Kampala after hating their project and Rosie fell ill. They're currently waiting for Project Trust to find them another project.
Dan and Rob are at a new project near Queen Elizabeth National Park. They are literally in the middle of nowhere surrounde by wild animals. Since they've been there a lady has been eaten by a lion and another crushed by an Elephant! As you can imagine they have a curfew, as soon as the sun drops! They struggled on their first week but seem to be enjoying it.
In 2 weeks we are going to our Country Reps house (Isobel & James) for the weekend. It would be our 6 week mark and it will be great to see everyone, exchanging stories :)
When there is a full moon, there is a full moon wherever else it is night. Last night I was looking up and thinking of everyone back home :D x x x
