After waking up early and eating breakfast, we caught a taxi to Universal Studios and got our tickets for Islands of Adventure. We lined up at the gate until 9am opening, to which everyone, us included, ran as fast as possible to the new rollercoaster 'Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure'. Hagrid's new rollercoaster is 100% one of the most enjoyable rides in the park, it continues to accelerate throughout the most of the ride reaching a high of 60mph (96.5kph).
Passing through the Jurassic World section we went to the other new attraction called 'Skull Island: Reign of Kong' which was a safari ride and fairly mediocre.
After doing Skull Island we went further down into Looney Town which was where I re-learnt the amazing exprience of Rip Saw Falls. Being a favourite of ours last time we where definiately excited to ride it again, it involves the story of a man and sidekick chasing after a damsel in distress after she was kidnapped by a villain. It's a very fun ride that remains one of our favourites at Univeral.
Another favourite attraction in Looney Town was Popeye's rapids where you are placed in a raft then sent through raging rapids where you get soaked by the ride and other people who shoot you with water guns on your way past them. We spent ages shooting others as well.
Walking further down we walk into Super Hero Island where we shop for comics and do 2 rides, 'The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man' and 'The Incredible Hulk Coaster', both these rides were absolutely amazing and incredibly fun. This was my first time on the Hulk Coaster and it was really fun to ride with all it's twists, turns and loops, we ended up riding it twice and moving onto Seuss Landing.
Suess Landing was a very interesting place as I was able to see it from the perspective of an other kid verses my younger self, Suess Landing wasn't very appealing to me or my brothers as we weren't the target demographic of that part of the park. We ended up looking around for a bit and went on a little ride around Suess Landing to check it out.
The Lost Continent was and still is one of my favourite parts of the park as it is themed around Poseidon and his powers. Unfortunately the Mystic Fountain (one of my most favourite parts of the park) wasn't being staffed so we skipped it to go watch the show about Poseidon and his "mortal enemy". We hope to visit the Mystic Fountain again in the coming days.
Without much to do in the Lost Continent we moved up to Harry Potter so we could get a better look through Hogsmeade as we didn't have a chance earlier in the morning due to the rush to Hagrid's ride. We went though an interactive show where Philippe was able to get a wand that was picked by Olivander, after that we crusied around the park and did some shopping.
At around 7pm we came back to the hotel to dip into the spa, have dinner and go to sleep. Tomorrow we are heading over to day 2 of Universal.
