Didier Moutia's Travels
Is the photo below of our youngest child not the embodiment of excitement? We have been to this park twice before and our kids already had the itinerary organised ... for the parents at least.
First stop was Echo Lake ... or more well known as the base for the "Star Tours" attraction. This is a favourite for all the family. We did this ride three times in a row. The ride is a 3D adventure where you are taken through some of the scenes made famous by the Star Wars movies. The ride changes all the time and each ride we did had a different variation which was excellent.
Once we completed Star Tours, I raced off with my middle child to his favourite ride, the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. This ride is known as "an accelerated drop tower thrill ride". This is a unique ride which has been specifically created for Disney. Like the Star Tours ride, the Tower of Terror changes each ride in terms of the sequence of the drops and their heights. The ride has a completely random sequence of lifts and drops which keeps things interesting! We ended up doing another two rides with child number 3 accompanying us. The boys love the feeling of 0 g weightlessness.
Next to the Tower of Terror is the Aerosmith Rock n' Roller Coaster. This is another favourite. The ride launches you from 0 to 90km in 2.8 seconds. This is the second fastest ride at Disney World. You experience 4.5g, consider that this is more than an astronaut experiences on the space shuttle. The ride has you following the band as they make a dash to a gig across town. For some fun see if you can locate all the hidden Micky Mouse's in the ride.
The Indiana Jones Stunt Show is well worth a visit. This attraction is a great way of showing kids what goes into making action movies. Last time we came to Hollywood Studios the kids made us go twice to the show. Lots of jokes and special effects to keep the kids interest.
For the creative kids like my oldest the Magic of Disney Animation is a must. Kids get to meet Disney characters, learn to draw their favourite characters from animators. There is a 10 minute presentation called "The Magic of Disney Animation" ... this is a MUST. A highly entertaining way to learn about how characters develop and what goes into animation. We have been to this a few times now and the kids still find it entertaining.
We decided to do the "Great Movie Ride". It is a very placid ride and dare I say boring. However it is good at giving the kids some history about movies. Challenge is keeping them awake! :)
The Pixar Area is great, especially for smaller kids. We all had a great time on the Toy Story ride. Definitely a must do ... it was so much fun. Basically this is a 3D shooter ride. We had a ball doing this one.
Make sure to visit the Streets of America Area, there are some great backdrops of cities like San Francisco and New York. The Muppets Vision 3D attraction is entertaining for any age. We did not get to the "Lights, Motors, Action Extreme Show" but expect to do so on our 5th visit this weekend ... also known as "Kids pick day".
All in all we love this park. We are sad to see that they are replacing the big Mickey Wizard's hat. It has been a feature of the park for 15 years but to us it is a symbol of the park we love. Also the backlot experience is currently being redeveloped we think.
