The plan was to leave early to spread out the day and hopefully to arrive in Burgos in the early afternoon before the heat hit. But no. I had a puncture first up and I had to wait for lovely man at the local bike store to open up a 9 am. He took it all apart and found a piece of glass in my tyre. He fixed it and put a new inner tube in. All for 5 Euros. Unbelievable. It old him I as going to Burgos and he shook his head and said "Maniana". I don't know if that was because I was crazy, it was too far in one day, it was too hot or all of the above. Anyway, a couple of steep hill climbs but a welcome last 25km on the flat into Burgos. Absolutely shattered when I arrived , but still found that I then had to carry my bike up steps to the hotel which is next door to the Cathedral - no assistance forthcoming from that score for me! Anyway, a lovely dinner and local vino Tinto.Bed time now before I think is a well earned rest day tomorrow.
