Geez it was nice and warm early this morning. We got moving early, stopped for lunch at Doon Doon Roadhouse and fuel. And now we are on our way to El Questro yay can't wait!!
We made it to El Questro with great time. I was very excited to arrive at the station. Lovely shady camping spots with stone fire pits and we managed to score prime real estate near the swimming hole which only has couple of fresh water crocks.
Instantly loved the place here. The kids went and played under the sprinklers whilst we set up so that was good. Then the guys took the kids swimming for the arvo and then Kylie and I joined in. We even managed to have some nibbles this arvo so that's pretty good going for a set up day.
Some w***er complained to us that the generators were still going at 5.10 when they're supposed to go off at 5.
The next day we got up and drove over to Home Valley Station to have a look around and then go for a 4WD look around. We got to cross the large section of the Pentecost River which was pretty dry. There is more water in the Pentecost to cross when arriving at El Questro.
Home Valley looked good but a bit disappointed that there was no shade but hey at least they had powered sites.
We decided to have our wraps at the big pirate ship playground and then a quick dip in the pool before heading off. We took the 4 x 4 track along the Pentecost River around to Wyndham. Great views of the Cockburn Ranges and wildlife.
Drove up to 5 Rivers lookout at Wyndham which would be stunning on a clear day but was still hazy from the fires.
It was back in to town to get a photo with the large crocodile statue. Gaz bought the boys a Boab Seed from an Aboriginal who had carved it. It was like a race to see who could sell theirs first to us.
It was back to camp on the main road this time.
Oh my it was so hot at night time as we've got no power and we can't run the generators. And the fans cut out early :(
