Soongies' Great Adventure
Today was a big day for English cricket and the Young family! The Cheshire County League teams - Barrow and Lindow (Tim's team) were playing in Great Barrow. We packed a big picnic to last the whole 6 hours! We got the picnic out as soon as we got there! There was some sun initially but as the day went on the sun started to disappear and the cold wind increased! We found a great position with a good angle to watch the game but the wind was particularly cold there! Tim's team batted first (and Tim is a bowler) so the first half was a little bit boring as we couldn't watch Tim do anything. Fiona and Richard (and Barnaby) were very cold so they decided to go for a walk. Not long after they left we received a what's app message with a photo of them at the pub (after we had joked that they are probably at the pub)! We kept warm by walking some laps of the oval. Tim's team made 177 runs off 50 overs. Now was our time to concentrate on our spectator job as Tim's team was ready to bowl / field! We found a table inside the clubhouse to get some warmth but the view was a bit restricted so we positioned ourselves outside when Tim was bowling! Tim opened the bowling and did well - even managed to get 2 wickets which was exciting! Towards the end it was getting very tight - the other team needed to get 5 runs off the last over to win! First ball - 1, second ball - 0, third ball - 4! Tim's team lost with 3 balls to spare! At least it was a close game to entice Fiona, Richard and Calvin into the excitement of cricket! We left the ground at about 8:00pm and brought Tim back to Heswall with us. We had a delicious dinner - Mexican Lamb - which Fiona prepared beforehand!
