Started the day bright and early so we could have breakfast and get to the start of the crossing early, we swung by a petrol station on route and asked there what the situation with transport back to the car park was, they told us the shuttle wasn't running that day so we ended up hopping on the coach to the car park that would then pick us up later, after a short drive we were at the start of the walk and under way, it started with a fairly easy ascent and we got some really good views of Mt.Doom!!! (So excited) after about an hour we had a toilet break and continued on passed a tour group, we then hit up devils staircase which was really, really hard going but we conquered that too! We then came up to the emerald lakes which looked amazing but stank of sulphur so we hurried past that and made our way to blue lake where we had lunch before the last main part of the uphill ascent, we then headed reasonably flat for a while before gradually heading downhill, that's when the rain hit and my trousers were a bit sudden.. It soon stopped though and I dried off fairly quickly, so that wasn't all bad. We twisted and turned our way down the windy paths before coming to a bench and sign that told us we were 45 mins away from the finish, we were a bit ahead of schedule so we chilled here a bit and had a snack before plucking up the courage to go on, after about another hour or so we finished the trek! It took us 6 hours and 20 mins in total, so not a bad time! We then stretched out before sitting down to rest our legs and waited for the others on the bus to turn up, after about 40 mins of chilling the bus turned up and took us back to Albert, we then drove back to the town as we figured we had earned a decent meal and got a curry which was the perfect end to a tiring day! It was bloody awesome and was pretty good value for money! We were all exhausted so drove back to the campsite and set up for the night where we got a fairly early night to rest up and regain some energy!
