It takes us about 20mins to drive into Broome from our caravan park. We stopped in at Beagle Bay at the Sacred Heart Church. Pearl shells are a big part of the design inside and the alter appeared in the movie Bran Nue Dae. It was built in 1918 by the German priests and local indigenous people, modelled on a black and white photograph of a village church in Germany. Leaving the Gibb River Road we went into Derby to look at the low and high tides at the jetty which are the 9th biggest in the world. The jetty has only rails on one side so at low tide it is a strange feeling to look over the edge with the big drop. Watching the gush of water rush in gives a great understanding on how fast the water is moving which it needs to in order to rise approximately 10m in 6 hours.
