We went to Turquoise Bay today. This is where they have a drift snorkelling area. Walk as far as you want up the beach enter the water and then drift back down the beach. It was only a short drive south to Yardie Creek this morning where we started with the walk. The first half is on a flat pathway alongside the gorge. The second half continues over natural rock up with views over the gorge. The water was quite shallow in a lot of the creek and clear enough to see schools of fish and a ray. We drove to Oyster Stacks which is one of the designated snorkelling areas. There isn't much sand and rocks line the banks with waves breaking upon them. We had a big driving day to a free camp at the Termite Nests just out of Exmouth. We stopped for lunch at the viewing area for the Rio Tinto Iron Ore mine. A great spot with picnic tables and the huge trucks drive past quite frequently. The boys waved to them and they all tooted their horns except one truck.
