Barden's Great Aussie Adventure 2015
We stopped in at Beagle Bay at the Sacred Heart Church. Pearl shells are a big part of the design inside and the alter appeared in the movie Bran Nue Dae. It was built in 1918 by the German priests and local indigenous people, modelled on a black and white photograph of a village church in Germany.
We were headed for Mercedes Cove which is a private residence with a few eco tents and villas. The ride in was like a rollercoaster in places with big humps in the road. The accommodation was in an old site shed and of average quality but it was spacious and had everything we needed. The owners have a table and chairs overlooking the bay with binoculars provided to watch the whales. They have a dog named Rex that the boys love, a swing set and a trampoline. Zach thinks it is great to have so many beds and a t.v.
