The kids woke up at 5 am wanting the toilet but we managed to go back to sleep until 7. At that point they started playing Lego and arguments soon erupted over particular pieces so the Lego was banned and they were all sent back to bed! Meanwhile Nick and I sat outside in the sunshine enjoy our first coffee of the day. We completed the breakfast marathon, packed up the car and drove to Noosa Heads to spend the day on Main Beach. We had planned an early start to hopefully beat the parking issues caused by the Jazz Festival on this weekend but even at 9 o'clock traffic was terrible and Hastings Street was blocked off to cars - really silly considering all the parking for the beach was at the of Noosa Spit! After spending a bit of time driving around and around Nick eventually dropped us all off at the beach and went off to find a park while I set up the A-frame (all good until it blew over!!) Unfortunately the only parking Nick could find was for a maximum of two hours and he had to keep going off to move the car getting further and further away each time! Despite the parking issues, the beach was magic and the kids had a great day. I spent a fair bit of time walking the main street in search of morning tea and lunch and each time watched some fantastic buskers as different bands were playing up and down the street, ranging from solo singers to huge brass bands. All the restaurants had set up tables in the middle of the road and plates of hot food were being carried all over the place - the smells were amazing. By 2 pm the wind had picked up and we'd had enough so Nick went off to get the car while I packed up. We called into Woolies on the way home to buy dinner but no one really felt like anything in particular and so the shop was a bit of a failure. We got back to the caravan park and Nick took all the kids to the pool for a swim. They lasted longer then expected as they had friends there to play with. By dinnertime everyone felt like something more substantial to eat then what we'd bought at Woolies so Katharine and I drove to the Noosa Marina and ordered fish and chips. The shops at the marina were all closed but window-shopping was good fun and we watched the Noosa ferry come in while we were waiting. Back at the caravan the fish and chips were sensational and worth the drive. The kids had a shower and spent the evening making Father's Day cards before a relatively early bed - Nick and I weren't too far behind as spending the day on the beach is exhausting!!
