Saturday 12th September Barcaccia Fountain
Situated at the bottom of the Spanish Steps is the boat shaped Barcaccia Fountain in the Piazza di Spagna.
Lots of people were filling drinking bottles although I wonder how clean the water actually is. Lots of people lining up to take photos of their friends filling the bottles and we did the same.
Afterwards we climbed the150 steps to the top opposite the church which was going through renovations with scaffolding everywhere.
There were artists selling paintings and some artists drawing people for a price and some were very good. All of the artwork in the streets are all the same and mass produced. There are people everywhere selling selfie sticks. People trying to sell roses. People trying to sell beads and wrist straps.
The view from the top was wonderful and blue sky day made it even more special. We walked down the steps and back onto the piazza and out with the map to see which way to go. Via Condotti was the way to go and one both corners were Gucci and Prada shops and as we started down Condotti there was shop after shop of top brand names from around the world. We stopped at one menswear store with people on the doors and in the window was a jacket for €4,215. Out of our league.
