Saturday 12th September
We walked to Termini Station and had coffee and croissant for late breakfastand then went into the station building to find the Metro.
We certainly came out the tradesmens entrance when we arrived because there is a whole underground shopping city underneath the big new main Station building.
Had we come out at the main entrance when we first arrived we would not have found our apartment so easily.
We caught the metro to Spagna Station and when we alighted we walked out at street leveland just around the first corner is the Spanish Steps.
The Spanish Steps take their name from the Spanish Embassy which was located nearby during the 19th Century. However the Spanish had nothing to do with the building of them. They were designed by an Italian between 1723 and 1725 and they were funded by the French because of the French Church, Trinita dei Monti, situated at the top of the Spanish Steps.
