This morning while we were getting breakfast ready we had a power outage and as it turned out it didn't come back on till about 3pm on the warmest day that we've experienced since Broome! Typical! Anyway, we were going to have coffee with Gundolf and Gabi at the local cafe, but no power, no coffee!
We said our farewells as they were driving to Perth to return to Germany. We decided to take a drive to Cervantes and to the Pinnacles in Nambung National Park, which is a relatively short drive, for WA standards. Once again open the wallet to pay to enter the National Park and then drive at your own pace through what can only be described as a Mars landscape, just amazing! Initially when you first see them you think that they are termite mounds, but they are limestone rock outcrops coming out of the sand in a variety of shapes and sizes. Why it has occurred here and how it has come about still baffles scientists, put simply, it is God's creation and it is spectacular!
After a tour through the Pinnacles we walked through the discovery centre which was educational and Lochie loved all the birds and ground creatures displayed there. It was midday when we left the Pinnacles so we drove to Cervantes Township and shared a fresh Lobster roll and chips at the Lobster Shack, yum!
By this stage Lochie was tired and he promptly fell asleep in the car on our drive back to our little home. We spent the afternoon resting, reading and relaxing as you do on holidays. Perfect!
