Thursday While there have been things on in town each day since Tuesday today is the first day that anything really interested us. Wednesday It's off this morning for Big red take 2. Quite a few more cars out here this morning and after letting the tyres down we head up Little Red. As we reach the top there is a car parked on the track with all four people out alongside it. Given that we're driving in sand I don't know how Martin manoeuvred the Patrol to avoid them. Tuesday I was right - not much sleep as the wind kept up all night long. There were a few times I thought we were going to blow over and I was sure there'd be no annexe left in the morning but as daylight came we found everything was OK. The wind is still extremely gusty (up to 60kms by some reports) so the trip back out to Big Red is postponed. Monday We've decided to go out to Big Red today and give it a go. Big Red is at the start of the Simpson Desert and is the tallest of the 1000 odd sand dunes. As we arrive at Little Red there are a few cars waiting, a few people who are climbing up and a few people just watching. Sunday Another hot day today so after breakfast we take a drive out to the racecourse and then back into town. We stop at the roadhouse and then walk up to the ruins of the old Hotel, the old hospital and then over to the Birdsville Bakery.
