Monday As usual we are packed and ready to go around 9am. Unlike other departures though we have a bit to do in town before we actually get underway. The first stop is at the Camooweal. Sunday Our last day in Mt Isa so I get 5 loads of washing on the line before we go into town for another Chinese massage and refill the other 2 Gerry cans. We take a trip up to the he lookout for 360° views of huge town. I probably haven't said this but it is amazing how close the mines are to the town. Saturday After a long sleep in and slow morning we head into town again. There is no Sunday trading allowed for Coles and Woolworths (this is to support the smaller traders) so we do our grocery shopping this morning. Seems as though everyone shops on Saturday - Coles is busier than home at Christmas. We also stock up on beer and moscato and then fill 2 of the Gerry cans before heading back to the park. Friday Today we are off to the Underground Hospital and the Tent House and then off to have a look around the shops. Before we went 'underground' there was some medical and dental memorabilia in the Beth Anderson museum. This was quite good and we took a few photos. We paid our $15 each for the guided tour and one of the tourists asked our volunteer guide whether Beth was the first nurse in Mt Isa or if she had started the Underground Hospital. Thursday We wake to the beginning of week 8. After a light breakfast we go over to the Mt Isa School of the Air. We've learnt quite a bit about the school from the Flying Doctor museum as it originated in Cloncurry. There is a short tour and background to the school and then we go into one of the studios and listen in on a grade 2 English lesson. These teachers do a fantastic job - we were both very impressed.
