Thursday
Driving on towards Hann River Roadhouse today which isn't far at all - an hour or two - and we arrive well before lunch. As we pull up the caravan brakes don't want to work but we eventually stop just overshooting the driveway a tad. There doesn't seem to be much here and considering the time we talk about continuing to Laura. Martin and I decide we need to look at the brakes before moving on so we book in for the night.
Martin looks at the brakes and has them fixed before I have time to check out the amenities. Looks can be deceiving though, as we set up an emu arrives and is very tame. We learn her name is Ozzie and she spends most of the time walking near us - she seems to have taken a shine to Martin.
We have lunch at the roadhouse (burgers and chips -again) and then back to camp for a relaxing afternoon. We are no sooner sitting down and a peacock arrives and has a good look around. There are also 2 brahma bulls and later find out one is named Roger. Martin has a nana nap and after he gets up gets a visit from a very friendly cookaburra. This must be another girl cause she seems fascinated with Martin too. Just before dusk a group of guinea fowl arrive and shortly after they head to the tree too roost for the night.
A lovely night which starts a bit cloudy but clears to reveal a starry sky. We chat for a while and then turn in around 9pm.
